Get set and start reading, let this recipe take place in your Sunday specials list.

Things you will need:
  • 1/2 kg mutton, cubed or minced
  • 1/4 kg small onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 6 teaspoons of oil or ghee
  • 2 cups of water
  • Required salt

To fry and powder:
  • 5-10 red chillies (depending on the size)
  • 2 tablespoons coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumid seends [Jeera]
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Preparation:
  1. Clean mutton and drain the water. Powder the ingredients given for 'mutton masala' together and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in the pressure cooker and add the finely chopped onion and ginger paste. Saute till it turns golden brown.
  3. Now add the mutton pieces and turmeric powder. Fry for 5 minutes or until the mutton turns dry. Now pour 2 cups of water to the mutton mixture and add the prepared mutton masala to it.
  4. Close the lid and pressure cook for 20 minutes and add required salt. Your simple and yummy mutton gravy is ready to eat now! Garnish with coriander leaves and onions rings.

Serve hot with: Cooked rice, chapathi or dosa.

Servings: 4

Tidbit: Cook the mutton for 30 minutes in pressure cooker if you are preparing this mutton gravy recipe for children/elders. This makes the mutton tender, soft and easily digestible. You can also avoid ghee and add only 2 teaspoons of oil to saute the masala if you are in diet.
